Deer Bedding Area Design for Giant Miscanthus or Switch Grass

If you have decided to take a one to five acre area on your hunting property and make it into a productive bedding area, you can do this by planting switch grass or Giant Miscanthus grass. Each takes three years to reach full potential for great deer cover and can last ten plus years and much longer. Both are very effective although one does better withstanding heavy snow loads than the other. Many consultants out there will tell you to plant switch grass here or Miscanthus there. There is way more to it than that.

A properly designed bedding area will hold bucks better than one that is not.  It also has to be designed with hunting and your specific property layout in mind so that you can successfully hunt it!  Creating these bedding areas can be a fair amount of work but creating these is VERY Effective once established.
